very engaging

Laughing Gas is a great read. I tore through it on a business trip and found it engaging, thoughtful, and educational. I got so much out of it while reading. Now that I've finished it I still keep thinking about what "it" means or meant - much like our protagonist's jungle juice trips. Somehow reading this book helped me to learn a lot more about myself and how I view the meaning of life, the future of the planet, what I stand for, and that I have choices about where to go after I die - and which one of those paths I'm likely to follow.

I recommend this book to anyone who I think might be open to it, it is not for everyone.

Why only 4 stars? The proofreading never happened, apparently. I found the typos and sophomoric use of the English language (not so much how the characters talk or think but how the writer wrote) quite distracting at first. I was able to overlook it - mostly - after I got about half way through. The errors are so numerous that it will turn some people off either out of frustration or it will make them not take the book seriously. In that case I hope for a 2nd edition to satisfy those folks. Again, very engaging and worth the effort of reading. Enjoy!

laughing gas had me laughing lol

I just finished reading Dave Field's 'laughing gas' this week, which is novel for me as I haven't finished a book cover to cover in a few years. The books which have grabbed my attention and read in a surge are often non-fiction , life stories or something of true experiences weaved in. This book has something of that in it for me, it's a travel story essentially, outside and in; round the globe, up the amazon and interdimensional portals to the other bit. One for 2012 for sure and sure to be a hit with many who could relate to the scenarios, the characters' highs and lows , and the messages therein. Dave is clearly on quest here and I get the feeling this aint over yet.

About the Author
Richard Jaeger earned his bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Florida. Professor Jaeger was one of the first three faculty members appointed Distinguished University Professor by Auburn University. His teaching awards include the Birdsong Merit Teaching Award and selection by ECE undergraduate students as Outstanding Electrical Engineering Faculty Member. In 1995 he was named Distinguished Graduate Faculty Lecturer. His current research interests include solid-state circuits and devices, electronic packaging, piezoresistive stress sensors, high heat flux cooling, low temperature electronics, VLSI design, and noise in electronic devices and circuits.

Travis Blalock is an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at University of Virginia.

A fantastic 'fluff' book

In the style of the Book of Nod (and Revelations of the Dark Mother) this book is written as if it was an actual book available in the (Old) World of Darkness. It is a reference book with details of practically every vampire mentioned in all of the Vampire: the Masquerade game books. It is well written and comprehensive.
It is black 'leatherbound' looking book with silver prinding and silver edged pages with a scarlet bookmark bound into it...so it's gorgeous to begin with. For the most part the artwork is just recycled from other books, so it's a mixed bag.
I passed up the opportunity to get this when it was first published because the original ad blurbs made it sound like a rules compendium or comprehensive index for other books...I only found out what it really was when it was already out of print.
I'm glad I got a second chance to get it at an acceptable price!

Best VTM book ever!!!

This book is writen like a real encyclopedia and has the most information of any white wolf supplement. It is writen by Aristotle, Lucida, and a few other noddist. THis book gives info on timelines of cities, major power players (such as Jan Pieterzoon, Myca/Sacha Vycos, Lucita, Anatole, Theo Bell, and the Methusalas.), and really anything else you could think of. My only complaint is that the information on the anarch revolt is a bit dodgy. It is worth it if you have an extra $100 to spend.

John J. Wild is the Robert and Monica Beyer Distinguished Professor of Business at the University of Wisconsin at Madison. He previously held appointments at the University of Manchester in England and Michigan State University. He received his B.B.A., M.S., and Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin at Madison.

Jerry C.Y. Han,who passed away September 26, 2002, was Pong Ding Yuen Professor at the University of Hong Kong School of Business, where he was Director of the School’s China Management Programs. He also held appointments at several Chinese Universities, including Beijing University and Renmin University. Professor Han previously held faculty appointments at the University of Buffalo, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), Michigan State University, and National Chung Hsing University. He received his Bachelors degree from National Chung Hsing University, Masters degree from National Chengchi University, and Ph.D. from the University of Buffalo.

Professor Han was a highly recognized teacher, known for his commitment and creativity in business education. He was a prior recipient of research fellowships from the government of Hong Kong, HKUST, Price Waterhouse, and National Chengchi University. Dr. Han was actively involved in several national and international organizations, including serving as President of the North American Chinese Association.

The author of more than 40 publications on various business topics, including international regulatory and disclosure issues, Professor Han served on the editorial boards of several prestigious journals. Great textbook, student perspective.

This is just one of many examples I have encountered where a good textbook can make a subject I thought I would hate interesting. The textbook is well written and easy to follow. It has some anecdotal information which I find helpful for keeping a reader interested. It could have had more, which is why I awarded four stars instead of five. Overall, I am happy with the quality.

I was happy with the prompt delivery of the book as well as the condition. The book is a good introduction to international business and touches on many of the factors affecting business. I would suggest reading this book if you want a good introduction and it serves well as a text to use in a class.

Steve is also the author of Built by Anhalt, a biographical exploration into the life and architecture of the famed Seattle architect Fred Anhalt.

Steve has specialized for many years in the conversion of content from one format to another, including projects such as the Microsoft Programmer’s Library in 1988 and the conversion of the 25-volume Funk & Wagnalls Encyclopedia for the initial Microsoft Encarta CD-ROM. He has created several content authoring and delivery systems, including those used by the Microsoft Mastering Series, the Quick Course Series, and numerous pubStudio titles that are published by Microsoft and several US government agencies. He is a strong advocate of good template design and of using Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) automation to smooth out the conversion, assembly, formatting, and validation of content for delivery via print, ebook, or web.

It's about time. Grab this, read it and keep it close!

I have become so accustomed to books about Microsoft's Windows Operating Systems being bad, that I actually didn't know how to react to the descriptive and thorough information provided in this remarkably comprehensive reference. The title is simple and accurate but what I didn't expect was to be led into the depth - the reasoning - the logic behind the functions I've only known to click, but never understood why.

Steve and Joan are a father and daughter team and they do a very impressive job at identifying how and why we do what we do in Windows 10. For example, one Windows book I had checked out from the library mentions "Fetch" as a program you pull other files from!? Ridiculous! The Lamberts explain the Fetch is a program tied to One Drive. It explains that we can store our files on One Drive and that Fetch's job is to go and get those files at our request from ANY computer. But it goes on to suggest tips for using it and how to set it up, almost as if each segues to another chapter. This is a classic example of the difference between this book and MOST other Windows books - explanation of the function.

This book naturally teaches us. It organizes the information with an impeccable series of appendixes that covers every switch on the keyboard to every word you may ever want to know the definition of. Ever hear of an app? Well, it's in there.

I will keep this book as a reference for a long time. It's one of the few reference books that I actually WANT to read from cover to cover. The Lamberts are true teachers and owning this book would make you one of their students and eventually one expert in Windows 10.

hefty book that is good for both beginners and more advanced Windows 10 users

There are a bunch of Windows 10 books on the market. All of the others that I have seen are too superficial, boring, and incomplete. This book is much more complete than the others, but also also caters to beginners. There are 12 chapters split into 3 major parts. Part 1 (the first 5 chapters) covers the basic user interface for Windows 10. Many readers will be happy with just that material and never need to look at the second half of the book. Parts 2 and 3 cover more advanced material like managing user accounts, your Internet connections, and peripheral devices. If you need the more advanced material, it is good to have here. All of the chapters are written clearly and completely, unlike many of the other books that have huge gaps in detail and depth. This book is a heavy 600+ pages, but the chapters are laid out to make finding what you need pretty easy. There is a good table of contents as well as a good index and glossary. So many computer referebce books lack indexes these days, which I think is a really terrible idea.

WINDOWS 10 STEP BY STEP is the official Microsoft guide to learning the Windows 10 operating system. It is intended for "home and business users of desktop and portable computers and devices running Windows 10 Home or Windows 10 Pro"--users who are Windows beginners and users who are already familiar with Windows. However, it is primarily a practical learning book (with practice files covering basic Windows operations, and configuration explanations accompanied by screen shots). It is not a complete Win10 OS reference book.

Specifically, this guide covers the features of the Windows 10 operating system itself. It explains "how you can use the operating system and the included tools, such as File Explorer, to access and manage the apps and data files you use in your work and play". It sometimes mentions the apps that are included with the Win10 software (e.g., Maps, Photos, Mail, Calendar, Groove Music, Windows DVD Player), but it is NOT a guide to using these apps.

WINDOWS STEP BY STEP is a very good practical guide to learning Win10, but it is probably NOT the best choice for experienced Windows users who are upgrading from earlier Windows versions and merely want to get going quickly with Win10. For those people, I would recommend My Windows 10, which is more of a quick reference book.

About the Author
Dr Diane D Addie is a veterinary surgeon and virologist who, after 8 years in small animal practice, returned to the University of Glasgow, Scotland, to research into feline infectious peritonitis (FIP) and feline coronavirus (FCoV). Her PhD thesis was entitled "Studies on the humoral immune response to feline coronavirus." The consequence of refusing to experiment on laboratory cats was that her studies were on animals who had become infected with FCoV, or sick with FIP, in the natural course of their lives. She is immensely grateful to all those cats and to their veterinarians and guardians who contributed samples from them, which made her research possible. Dr Addie has published over 50 refereed veterinary and scientific papers and has contributed chapters to many veterinary textbooks. She has spoken at international veterinary and scientific conferences. In 2003 she received the Amoroso award for outstanding contributions to small animal studies by a non-clinical member of university staff. She served on the council of Cats Protection for 20 years and is currently a patron of the Celia Hammond Animal Trust. She is author of a YouTube channel and the catvirus.com website. Must read for cat breeders!

Dr. Addie is one of the foremost veterinary experts on the topic of corona virus and fip. This book is a must read for any cat breeder and has much practical advice on how to deal with the coronavirus in the cattery setting. Dr. Addie answers many questions that are difficult to find clear answers to on the Internet or even from a regular veterinarian. Her love and devotion for Cats and people is clearly evident through her writing and I have personally experienced what a special and remarkable person she is on an individual level as she has so generously given her time and expertise to correspond with me regarding questions that I wanted clarification on. I am extremely grateful that she wrote this book and I wish more vets. would become familiar with her research.

Since the antique civilizations until now, cats have always occupied an important place in human society and in the heart of the Man, without forgetting the large importance of the cat, "�tre vivant sensible" who contributes to the good balance of the Biodiversity on our planet.

My dear friend Maria Bonino lost her lovely cat Luca because of a rare disease, named FIP. Maria has recently offered me the book "Feline Infectious Peritonitis and Coronavirus" written by Diane D. Addie PhD. I've read it with big attention and a great pleasure because it is of an excellent level and contains sources of additional important information.

The subject is vast. FIP is lethal for 10 % of cats infected by Feline Coronavirus (It is shed in the faeces) but pitifully this disease continues to be little known for Veterinarians, breeders of cats or simply people who love cats. FCoV is a Coronaviridae. Feline Coronavirus belongs to the Groupe IV de Virus in ARN (a ribonucleic acid) simple chain of positive polarity (ssRNA) so it is very virulent because it uses directly the genome of the host to produce its own proteins where from the infection is very fast.

Doctor Diane D. Addie as a true professional, realizes one cutting-edge research. Between other methods, she applies the immunological conventional test ELISA (Enzyme Linked Immuno Sorbent Assay) intended to detect a protein or antibodies FCoV in the blood and the test RT-PCR in the viral genetic material that she gets via samples coming from feline patients (naturally infected with FcoV) to confirm the origin of the virus infecting the cats.

THE BOOK CAME TO MY HANDS AT THE TIME WHEN I WAS DESPERATE WITH THE NEWS FROM THE VET THAT MY 8 YEARS OLD COMPANION CAUGHT FIP -A DEADLY DISEASE- AND AN UNEASY END WAS WAITING FOR HER. I LOOKED FOR HELP FROM INTERNET -AMAZON- AND LUCKILY CAME ACCROSS WITH A BOOK WRITTEN EXCLUSSIVELY FOR CAT OWNERS. I READ THE BOOK IN ONE FULL EVENİNG AND FELT MYSELF A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT PERSON IN THE NEXT DAY -FULL OF HOPE AND OPTIMISM-
THE BOOK IS MOST ENLIGHTENING FOR THE PARENTS OF THE CAT WITH FIP SUSPECT. DR ADDIES FRIENDLY AND PLACATING ATTITUDE MAKES PEOPLE READ IT WITHOUT PANIC YET WITH GROWING SELF ASSURANCE. IT IS WRITTEN WITH SUCH UNSOPHISTICATED YET EDUCATING MANNER THAT CAT OWNERS DEVELOP A SCIENTIFIC NOTION AS THEY GO ON WITH IT, LEAVING ASIDE THE PAIN AND FEELING OF TERROR CAUSED BY HELPLESSNESS AND UNKNOWN.
