I read this for a college course but would recommend it entertainment also. Like the descriptions and details of frauds committed. Highly recommended.

worth the quick read

this is an 624 page long and think book which presents MOSTLY asset relocation (peggy bank accounts stealing), fraudulent checks writing, fraudulent checks writing with lavish spending lifestyles on the side, fake accounts, fake payments, CEO high living fraud, gambling fraud..etc..only presented 5 cases of earnings management (creative accounting)...if one is interested in more details on creating accounting, this other book might interests you called Financial Shenanigans..afterall, this book is so so..[...]

Good recipe book

I like this Quick & easy dim sum cookbook because it gives me a variety of choicesranging from bun to noodles it even has somw western modifications to it such as the fortune cookie recipe for instance. I like the factor it has a metric table in it as and the basic hints are appreciated as well. I also like the cookbook has detailed photos of the food and how it should look. I like how each dish looks like a work of art not sure whether to eat it or gaze at it in appreciation.
The recipes and photos included with the step by step suggestions are a good bonus so you can somehow gauge your progress. The drawings sprinkled into the book are nice touches that complete the book. I think this book is more for people who want to add western ingredients onto there dim sum granted purists maynot like this but it is a good book nonetheless at least in my opinion.

a pic's worth a thousand guesses

The kicker for this book is the effective use of pictures to hold the hand of the would be cook. I purchased a number of different books on dim sum prep, and found this tome and another the best in breed. The other had very primitive drawings, but used verbal instructions very effectively, probably the result of years of teaching classes in cookery, whilst this tome provided excellent pics depicting the sequence and ultimate plating of each of the dishes. I enjoyed the verbal tome for the instruction that virtually described how my aunt made these goodies 60 years ago, while I appreciated and enjoyed the pictorials in this tome because they did indeed make the whole thing simple. I strongly recommend this tome for rookies who lack the aunties who did this for kicks.

I love this book. I made many recipes from it and they are all very easy. The ingredients are easy to find in an Asian store. I don't know if this recipes are the traditional recipes but to me it doasen't matter because they taste great.I love that it has pictures that show you the steps, it is very helpful.

Good beginner's vocabulary.

It is a good beginner's book or one to review German taken fifty years ago. The vocabulary is interesting, so I found it useful. Hey, at least it was not printed in gothic script like my German book those many years ago. The only disappointment was that I had already purchased the first two books included in this four book compendium. I'll wait on getting any of the next four, figuring they will combine them.

A useful and entertaining simple reader.

This is an excellent reader. Not extremely challenging but a good vocabulary builder and reading comprehension builder. This book is also much better than buying the small books separate (which are too short to be worth the money). The stories are interesting, but also more real life kinds of stories (which is to help the reader learn commonly used phrases). This is worth the money for people learning German.

About the Author

Jeff Greenberg is a Professor of Psychology and College of Science Fellow at the University of Arizona. As a small child growing up in the Bronx, he was very curious about the human propensities for vanity and prejudice. Jeff majored in psychology at the University of Pennsylvania, but it wasn’t until his final semester, and his first course in social psychology, that he found a field where people where asking the questions he thought should be asked. Soon after starting a master’s program in social psychology at Southern Methodist University, he knew this was what he wanted to spend his life studying and teaching. After receiving his M.A., Jeff completed his Ph.D. at University of Kansas in 1982 under the mentorship of Jack Brehm. He has since received numerous research and teaching awards. His research has contributed to understanding self-serving biases, how motivation affects cognition, the effects of ethnic slurs, the role of self-awareness in depression, cognitive dissonance, and how concerns about death contribute to prejudice, self-esteem striving, and many other aspects of social behavior. Jeff has also co-authored or co-edited six prior books, including the Handbook of Experimental Existential Psychology and In the Wake of 9/11: The Psychology of Terror.

Toni Schmader is a Canada Research Chair in Social Psychology at the University of British Columbia. She received her B.A. from Washington & Jefferson College in Pennsylvania before completing her Ph.D. at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Before moving to Canada in 2009, she taught at the University of Arizona for 10 years. At UBC, she was awarded the Killam Prize for excellence in research, and at the U of A she received the Magellan Prize for excellence in teaching. She is currently a member of the executive committee of the Society for Personality and Social Psychology and an Associate Editor at the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology. She was drawn to research in social psychology for its ability to take a systematic empirical approach to examining important social issues and to teaching for the opportunity to share those insights with others. Her research examines how individuals are affected by and cope with tarnished identities and negative stereotypes. She has published work on topics of social identity threat, stigma and identity, stereotyping and prejudice, self-conscious emotion, and gender roles.

Jamie Arndt is the 2012 Frederick A. Middlebush Professor of Psychological Sciences at the University of Missouri (MU). After attending Skidmore College in the eastern United States for his B.A., and the University of Arizona in the west for his Ph.D., he settled in the middle, accepting a position at MU in 1999. During his time at MU he has received the Robert S. Daniel Junior Faculty Teaching Award, the Provost’s Junior Faculty Teaching Award, the International Society for Self and Identity Early Career Award, and the University of Missouri Chancellor’s Award for Outstanding Research and Creative Activity in the Social and Behavioral Sciences. He is a founding member of the Social Personality and Health Network, former Chair of the Society for Personality and Social Psychology Training Committee, and has served on the editorial board of various journals in the field. He has authored or co-authored scholarly works pertaining to the self, existential motivation, psychological defense, and their implications for many topics, most notably health decision making, creativity, and legal judgment.

Mark J. Landau is an Associate Professor of Psychology at the University of Kansas. Mark received his B.A. from Skidmore College, where he became very interested in the fusion of experimental psychology and existential philosophy. He continued his research and education at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs, and then the University of Arizona, where he received his Ph.D. in 2007. His research explores how existential motives influence social perceptions and behavior, and how people use conceptual metaphors to construct meaning. He has received a number of awards recognizing his research, including the Theoretical Innovation Prize from the Society for Personality and Social Psychology and the Outstanding Early Career Award from the International Society for Self and Identity. Mark has taught social psychology for over 14 years. He enjoys showing students that research, much like an inspiring novel or movie, affirms our common humanity “reminds us that we are not alone in our strivings, insecurities, and foibles” and thereby sharpens our ethical awareness.

About the Author
Jesus F. de la Teja is Jerome and Catherine Supple Professor of Southwestern Studies, Director of the Center for the Study of the Southwest, and Regents' Professor of History at Texas State University. A past president of the Texas State Historical Association, he was also the inaugural State Historian of Texas. He is the award-winning author and editor of numerous works on Spanish, Mexican, and Republic-era Texas.

Ron Tyler is the retired director of the Amon Carter Museum of American Art in Fort Worth, Texas. He also served as Professor of History and Director of the Center for Studies in Texas History and the Texas State Historical Association at The University of Texas at Austin. He has written or edited more than twenty books in the fields of Texas history and American, Western American, and Mexican art and history.

Nancy Beck Young is Professor and Chair of the Department of History at the University of Houston. She has held year-long residential fellowships at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington, D.C. and at the Clements Center for Southwest Studies at Southern Methodist University. Young's scholarship mixes general evaluations of national politics with specific studies of Texans on the national stage.

Wish I liked it more.

It’s hard for me to write this review because I wanted to love this book, and a part of me wonders if I didn’t like this book because it’s not the type of book I prefer to read. Some people like to read romances where the overcoming of obstacles is the main part of the book with the finale being the couple coming together in a relationship. I tend to like books where a relationship occurs and then they grow as a couple. This book falls in the first category.

When I came across Parker in Attraction, it was instant LOVE. To quote Disney’s Cinderella, the secret to a good life is to be kind and to be courageous. I think that’s the secret to a great heroine too. In Attraction, Parker was kind and courageous. She went outside of her comfort zones (of a lab closet) to attend a frat party and warned Martin of a nefarious plan. Absolutely loved her for embracing change with� rational and zainy. Then, in Heat, it was almost a mental game. There was a push/pull relationship with lots of heat. And now with Capture, I wonder where the Kaitlin I fell in love with went. She was fearful. She hid from the fear of rejection, and she was obtuse to the situation. And in a way, Martin’s mind games didn’t help Parker’s faith in him either.�

I’m use to Penny Reid writing books about smart, quirky women over coming fears and fighting for their happily ever after. With this book, Kaitlin Parker was intelligent and she was quirky, but she lacked the courage and tenacity that her fellow heroines had.�

If you are familiar with this trilogy, then you know that book 1, Attraction, introduced us to Kaitlyn Parker and Martin Sandeke, fabulous collegiate chem partners turned spring break vacationers with a heavy dose of mutual attraction. In book 2, Heat, this attraction turned red hot as Kaitlyn and Martin coaxed their relationship into heated passion. But then the unthinkable happened, and we were left heart-broken alongside them in a wretched cliffhanger.

But all the waiting was completely worth it. Even though all three books are now out, I still highly recommend taking even a small break (at least a few days to a week) between books. There is something necessary about this timely pause to let the previous events simmer, yet also prepare you for the next stage in Martin and Kaitlyn's relationship. Each book is its own personality, and each stage allows Martin and Kaitlyn to grow in incredible ways. So just as their journey needed its own "breaks," so also do we so we can be even more impacted by their conclusion.

Having said all that, all the intense anxiety I felt throughout this book was completely worth it. I was so excited to fill myself up with Martin and Kaitlyn, having not a clue how things would turn out, except desperately hoping for a happy ending. As the synopsis reveals, K&M have been apart for months. From Kaitlyn's perspective, she has been trying to heal and move on from her love for Martin, and at the same time she has been exploring a new side to her that Martin brought out, the confidence and vision for her musical side. When Kaitlyn sees Martin again, we learn that he has also been busy these last months, but the specifics of what or why remain elusive until the details are slowly revealed.

What is not slowly revealed, but glaring obvious, is that these two are not done. Not by a long shot. The sparks may have been ignored, but they were not forgotten. But Martin's approach to Kaitlyn is all new. Which is good because Kaitlyn and Martin are also new. And I loved their story. Yes, I may have trembled with anxiety and anticipation. Yes, my stomach may have been was in knots. Yes, I may have swooned over a certain someone and all his yummy awesomeness. Yes, I may have smiled and sighed and cheered and fanned myself. But I cannot go into great detail with what actually happens. That is something you will want to enjoy all on your own!

I also deeply loved Kaitlyn & Martin. Penny Reid develops characters beautifully, and K&M are two characters you can tell she put her heart and soul into. They are so well thought out, and in this final book, their transformation and maturity is amazing. And I have to say that Martin steals the show a bit here. Seriously, if you were on the fence at all about Martin in the previous books, you won't be after this. I loved Martin! And then having K&M together... All the feels!!

I loved Capture and loved the entire Elements of Chemistry trilogy. I miss Martin and Kaitlyn already, and hope they appear somewhere in something at sometime in some way in the future, the near future, because I loved them so.

Pretty Good, but,,,

I liked the book, loved the ending. The writing was still very good. I still really enjoyed Martin & Kaitlin, and loved their banter, but.....it was a bit frustrating. For two people who were usually very candid and blunt, they went round & round with each each other never admitting how they really felt about each other...time and time, and yes, time again. I personally like for my couples to be together, I want my "couple time"-lots of it, not at the very end.

About the Author
Mary Ann Blitt began her Spanish studies at the age of 13 while living in Madrid, Spain. She received her B.A. in Spanish from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, and after spending a year studying at the Universidad de Granada, she returned to the university to obtain a teaching certificate. She later attended Colorado State University, where she received her master's degree in Spanish with interdisciplinary studies in French. After teaching Spanish at Metropolitan Community College-Maple Woods in Kansas City, and coordinating the Study Abroad Program there for several years, she joined the faculty at College of Charleston in 2014. Mary Ann is actively involved in professional development workshops; she travels whenever possible; and she has studied in Spain, Mexico, France, and Canada. She also has trained teachers of English as a Foreign Language in Asuncion, Paraguay.

Margarita Casas was born in Mexico City, Mexico. She completed her bachelor's degree in sciences and techniques of communication in Guadalajara, Mexico. She holds two master's degrees from Colorado State University, one in Spanish literature with an emphasis on education, and the other in Teaching English as a Second Language. Currently, she is an instructor of Spanish at Linn-Benton Community College, where she served as Foreign Language Department chair for 11 years. She has collaborated on two textbooks prior to EXPLORACIONES and has published a novel, Italia En Cuatro Estaciones, winner of the first Literature contest of the Universidad de Guadalajara. She is an avid traveler who hopes to inspire her students to travel and see the world by themselves.

A must have for trauma medicine

This is my second go to book. It's great while learning cardiology and trauma medicine. The heart itself can be a very complex and complicated organ and EKGs might feel intimidating at first but this book alongside classroom education, hands on education, pharmacology and your main trauma medicine book , are your survival guides. The layout is perfect, easy to find things, easy to add stick notes or your own handwritten notes. Cardiology changes with AHA every once in awhile but this book versus the most recent has no dramatic changes, so if I lost this book I'd feel comfortable buying the year of this book again. The pages don't bend or tear which is nice conclsidering the book is 5 years old and yes it took me 5 years to write a review but all the better because I can say it is durable and up to date with current standards.

I wish more books were like this one.

A wonderfully straight -forward how-to book on the technicalities and the various methods of binding books. Concentrates exclusively on stitching, introducing many methods unfamiliar to me that are both beautiful and practical. The instructions and drawings are clear uncluttered and easy to follow. The photo's are basic but intended to inform rather than the seduce the unaware into a purchase. It contained everything I needed to know. I wish more books were like this one.

Great book!!

My boss bought a copy of this book for the graphics department (an old edition). I read a few paragraphs and flipped through the pages for a few minutes, then got on Amazon and ordered my own copy. The book would make a fantastic text book for a book making class. It goes into great detail, yet allows for creativity. I'd recommend it highly.

Excellent resource for book artists

I enjoy journaling on blank pages and subsequently binding them into journals. Keith Smith's book on non-adhesive binding is an excellent resource for learning non-conventional binding and book structures.

I enjoyed the book so much, I eventually made mock-ups of nearly every project in this book AND went on to worth through several other of Smith's books.

Smith provides many basic/general techniques in the front of the book followed by specific "recipes." He provides both creative suggestions for content and technical information on structure and assembly. Smith also provides sample photographs of each binding.

One minor criticism: many of the projects suggest using very heavyweight paper--almost watercolor paper--instead of textweight or lightweight. I had to tweak the instructions for binding the lightweight paper I use for journaling.

I purchased this informative and clearly stated book for my Kindle. I really appreciated the simplicity of the writer. Although I only have five clients as ministers, this book guided me through a lot of unanswered questions that usually takes me thirty to forty minutes to decipher when I go to the IRS.gov website.
